The Lookout sits right on the water at Hout Bay Harbour, looking across to Chapman's Peak and the coastline. From the timber deck you can watch the working harbour, with its fishing fleet, deep-sea tuna charters and Seal Island boats, while the oysters, grilled seafood and sushi come to the table.
Welcome aboard · Hout Bay Harbour
Oysters shucked to order, line fish off the local boats and sushi rolled to order, on a timber deck at the water's edge.

The view from the deck
Arguably one of the best views in the Western Cape, so we drew it. Every ridge is plotted from real terrain at its true bearing from the deck. Scroll to look around.
Early Dutch settlers named this "wood bay" for the yellowwood forests that once filled the valley. Judas Peak (758 m) keeps watch at its head.
Masts tick in the breeze across the basin. Grab a bench on the deck and watch the yachts come and go.
The highest summit on the skyline, crowned by its broadcast mast. The Constantia winelands lie on its far side, and a few of their bottles are on our wine list.
Hout Bay is still a working fishing harbour. The local boats bring in the hake and line fish that land on our menu.
Carved into the cliffs between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, it's one of the world's great coastal drives. At dusk, watch the headlights trace it across the bay.
The peak across the bay, and the namesake of our Chapman's Seafood Platter: hake, calamari, black mussels and half a dozen prawns.
Deep-sea tuna charters and the Seal Island launches head out past the breakwater. Duiker Island and its Cape fur seals are just around the point.
The granite headland guarding the harbour mouth. It gives its name to our Sentinel Platter, and Llandudno, the biggest platter of all, sits just over the ridge behind.
